Mellowtel helps keep browser plugins free and available for everyone

Mellowtel's open-source library enables users to share a fraction of their unused internet if they decide to opt-in in the network. This is used to request public websites in order to help AI labs & startups train their models. A share of the revenue these startups pay is given to the developer of the browser plugin that helps to keep it free and available for everyone.

Since users are sharing their unused Internet bandwidth, they can decide if they want to share it or not at any moment from the settings page. To ensure transparency the library is open-source for everyone to see on Github.

What is Mellowtel's goal?

Mellowtel's goal is to create a safe and sustainable ecosystem for browser plugin developers to make a living thanks to their work without compromising their users' privacy or experience. In this way developers can focus on creating great products that benefit all users and improve the browsing experience and the browsers on which they are.

Most extensions provide a lot of value to users, but users are not willing to pay for them. Mellowtel gives users a way to support the extension without having to directly pay for it. They can instead choose to share a fraction of their unused internet bandwidth. Users pay with a resource they didn't even know they had, and developers get paid for their work.

Hopefully this will lead to fewer extensions being shut down or discontinued due to inability to monetize, fewer personal data being collected and sold, and more transparency.

What are in-built security measures?

In order to build a safe and trusted ecosystem Mellowtel focuses a lot on user's experience and in making sure they are in control of their settings at any time and that their browsing experience is unaffected.
